Darkmoon Faire For Beginners
The Darkmoon Faire is a fairly awesome place for players to have fun but at the same time obtain some pretty solid rewards. Collecting the Darkmoon Prize Tickets may lead to many exciting prizes. One of the best is Heirloom items which can assist in leveling characters as they are all Bind on Account (can be mailed to your other toons). The other main benefit is that there are a set of quests for each of the professions with the rewards being not only tickets but a +5 up to the skill. This is a gigantic gain as it can breach those last few frustrating (and costly) points to endgame level. To make matters even better, the Darkmoon Faire happens once a month and these skill quests may be completed for the up ONCE A MONTH.
So how do I make the trip and what do I need to bring?
The portal to the Darkmoon Isle is located at the base of the West side of Thunderbluff. For a small fee, you can find a Darkmoon Faire representative in each of the capitol cities who will teleport you to the front of the portal. Before you go, however, you will want to grab a few materials in Thunderbluff so you may complete the profession quests without leaving the island. Below is a chart (thanks to WoWTheoryCraft for the compilation) that will provide you with the "what's needed" based on what professions you are trained in ... HOWEVER, you will not be able to see the quests unless you have a minimum of 115 already in the profession in question.

What else is there to do in Darkmoon Faire?
Well, you can always play the games to collect the tickets for Heirlooms or special mounts sold exclusively on the Island. There are also a few easy to accomplish achievements including I Was Promised a Pony which is located on the South side of the isle, near the docks among the stabled animals towards the back. Several other achievements are accomplished during the games such as Quick Shot.
There are many things to do there and lots of fun to be had but I wanted to at least provide a basic "Getting Started" for all of you ... to entice you into the crazy world of the Darkmoon Faire :) You will be AMAZED ...
